Last week we were at IIA 2022, the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors Conference at the QE2 Conference Centre in London. It was great to be back at a real face to face conference, attended by around 450 delegates and with an excellent agenda of plenary and breakout sessions.
We had plenty of visitors to the ICE stand, with plenty of discussion around our solution which focuses on engaging the First Line. We love to get into discussion on the topic, hearing the good, the bad and the ugly stories that the members have experienced.
We have built up a bit of a reputation for handing out our cuddly mascots, and this year was no exception with Elliot Nest, the newly appointed “Chief Oversight Officer” making his way into many of the delegates bags.
For me though, the big highlight was just seeing so many people. The last conference for us was 2019, and since then we have all suffered the isolation of pandemic lockdown. This felt like things were really back to normal, especially the end of Day One when we all had the opportunity to have a glass of wine (courtesy of our competitor Auditboard, thank-you!) and have friendly chat and laughter, and the chance to network properly (which you just can’t get across on your typical Teams call).
Fingers crossed that the virus stays sufficiently away for us to continue such great events.
